Help for veterans with mental health problems

ALTOONA - A new effort is underway to help veterans in the region with PTSD and other mental health problems.

Monday, Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona has renewed at the entrance to the hospital for emergency care, a new building for behavioral medicine. After completion next year 16 offices and 27 treatment rooms, lectures, essays, and group therapy are included.

The head of the local health center said the project is a step towards a major initiative in the VA makes the treatment of major mental health treatment and also as physical health.

William Mills said VA Medical Center also provides more resources on suicide prevention and other treatment programs for mental health and addiction.

Van Zandt VA Medical Center provides services for more than 87,000 veterans in our region.
