Mother calls for change after son tissue donation rejected

IOWA (WABC) -

A mother in Iowa change request after doctors rejected the donation of tissue from your son because he was gay.

After years of bullying, the son of Sheryl Moore, AJ committed suicide last year. Months before his death, signed AJ to be organ donors. In his letter to his mother learned that AJ kidney, liver, heart and lung were all recipients, but their eye tissue and could not be used because he was gay. This is one of the FDA policy that was created when the AIDS epidemic decades ago.

"My first feeling was very angry because he could not understand why the eyes of my 16 year old son could not be given because he was gay," Sheryl said.

Gay men are not allowed to donate blood.

In recent years, many medical authorities and communities of homosexual activists for changes in the law, which they say is not scientifically known.
