For years, scientists have debated the exact endocrine effects on the human body interrupt. Now the Ministry of Environment of France calls for urgent measures., The Council of the European Union, arguing that the potential hazards of endocrine disruptors should be recognized immediately
What is an endocrine disruptor?
According to the Natural Resources of the United States Defense Council "An endocrine disruptor is a synthetic chemical that when either imitated in the body or blocks hormones absorbed and interfere with the normal functions of the body." [1] Essentially, it is an endocrine disruptor, which impairs or prevents the hormone balance of the body. This can be a wide range of effects on human health, have including changes in gene expression and may contribute to fertility problems and cancer. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an example of an endocrine disruptor commonly found in plastics (eg plastic water bottles).
Endocrine disruptors and the EU
In the European Union and elsewhere, the definition of endocrine disruptors in the debate remains. Although the EU had planned to issue a formal definition in December 2013, the Commissioner for Environment, Janez Potocnik, delays the document. Because scientists have some aspects of endocrine disruptors, including the specific effects they have not yet understood on human health, the EU has been reluctant to issue an official statement on this issue.
The French argument
France argues that it is to start now enough evidence on the effects of endocrine disruptors precautions. One proposal is the beginning of a word disturbing. France set offers a three-tiered system of classification for endocrine disruptors are verified alleged or suspected to reflect scientific certainty regarding the level of individual risk damaging. France presents his argument in the meeting of the EU Environment 12. Council Juni 2014th
According to an official statement by the European Commission, the Council's response was:
"The Commission explained that the work [in risk-based scientists endocrine disruptors and a new strategy for EU action criteria classify] is in progress, and that the public consultation will be published in the coming days, which describe various options for a new strategy ". [2]
