As a pastor, health

Healthy Herd As pastors, we know that our work as ministers of the spiritual health of our communities. But thinking about the mental health of people in your community, you need to consider your physical, emotional, mental and relational well-being? My guess is that if you we're like most pastors probably not.

Examine how health wedding anyone could have an impact on their experience of God and intimacy with him. Think about how depression or anxiety could life the spiritual welfare of a person (and vice versa) to influence.

When I explain it, it seems very obvious. Of course these things are composed.

But it's just the thing to forget a pastor.

If you want to pastor a church in good health (and I think yes, if you do not, that's a discussion for a whole other article.) - If you want a church pastor in good health, you must take into account the emotional, mental , physical and relational, to feed people.

If this thought scares you, do not leave. You do not need to see a doctor or therapist or a life coach, offer this to the people entrusted to their. There are simple ways for you, your staff and your community to be compatible with all versions healthy environment.

Some of these ideas.

Physical health

This is something often overlooked in the cultures of the Church. In fact, most of the time in the cultures of the Church, the spiritual needs at the expense of physical health are high. Pastors work too many hours and should to practice on lack of sleep or not enough time to run and prepare healthy meals for themselves.

This lack of physical health can (and often do) spread to the rest of the community.

But consider this: Without a healthy body, how can we really experience the tangible presence of God? If our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit we act as if we slept very little, eat fast food, reduce stress and do not move our bodies, the way they are?

For more ideas on how to promote one's physical and mental dangers to avoid, I recommend a book by Gary Thomas called every body material.

Emotional and mental health

There are probably people in your community who have a legitimate desire and need advice, but either it can not afford to be embarrassed to ask or do not know where to go for help.

And if you compiled a list of resources and trusted advisors to make available to everyone in your community? This ensures the anonymity of the people to ask the anxiety and give access to people who have nothing. Also, if you created a scholarship fund to help people in your community know you need advice, but you can afford?

Another resource that could provide support would be groups.

Grief counseling groups of chronic pain, Celebrate Recovery, are examples of self-help groups, you can train yourself to the needs and resources of their community. By providing these support groups, we will come to the common misconception about the church, people have, and pretend to be perfect, to refute.

We invite individuals, instead of hiding heal their weaknesses. We help you to do this.

Relational Health

When was the last time your church is facing a number of weddings or for a meeting or a healthy friendship? Have you thought about how it is to live in a healthy community with others and talk about?

Scripture has much to say, in fact, most of the new testament, it is not know how to live in community with other believers., However, have little or no time for them. Maybe a week here and there.

Marriage health in your community have an important impact on the mental health of their community. Weddings health personnel an important role in the health of marriage in the broader context effect. What has helped dedicated to this healthy marriages?

Is there anything else I can do?

Feel free to help the people, the health focus in their emotional, physical and social life. It is part of their job. This is a good investment. It will make a difference in the long run. These areas will inevitably have an impact on an individual's health and the health of your church.
