Health authorities warn of spread of measles Vermont

The Ministry of Health wants health care providers to be vigilant Vermont measles, since the highly contagious disease in 18 countries found this year.

Measles is in two New England states, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Vermont Public Radio reports, it has in the last 10 years, a case of measles in Vermont. The last eruption was in 1993, when 31 cases were reported.

Vermont State Epidemiologist Patsy Kelso said the U.S. is seeing more cases due to increased foreign travel. Infected people then the disease.

Measles is easily transmitted from one person to another, and nearly nine out of 10 people who have close contact with a patient sensitive measles have to develop the disease.

Kelso recommends that children be vaccinated against measles.
