NEW YORK - The Ministry of Health of New York, said that the figures for the year 2013, the highest number of deaths from heroin in a decade.
The New York Times says that deaths exceeded by heroin overdose in the city last 400 in 2003, last year it was the 420th
It is said that the number has more than doubled in the last three years.
Many addicts are higher. But experts say that younger users are increasingly in the mix.
Experts also point to pills strong opioid abuse and heroin in suburban Westchester County.
The health officer of the City, Dr. Mary T. Bassett, the drug naloxone said is used to reverse more than 500 overdoses since 2010.
Bassett says the publicity and education in Staten Iceland worked. Now health officials focus on some of these strategies the Bronx.
Rich regions of northern Queens Bronx and East are some of the hot spots.
