Health and social services used electronic medical records

Fort Smith (25 September 2014) - The residents of Fort Smith will be the new recipient of the electronic health information systems, such as the Government of the Northwest Territories continues its use in the territorial project of electronic medical records (DME). Authorized health professionals have instant access to patient health information access, improved continuity of patient care.

"My priority is to ensure that the residents of the Northwest Territories will receive the best possible care, and we need a system of social services to support the appropriate technology to make this happen and overall health," said Minister of Health and social services Glen Abernethy. "EMR is changing the way information collected, integrated and shared among authorized providers and health be an important tool as we continue on the creation of a unified system, the better care and better health makes work a better future for our people. "

"DME is more secure than paper records and will make it easier for health professionals authorized to track data over time and to inform you about when patients are due for preventive visits and tests," said Phyllis mawdsley, CEO of Fort Smith Health and Social Services. "EMR ensure that health information on the right time, the right place at the right provider."

DME will be used for planning, mapping and accounting for the delivery of patient care. On the way to a paperless recording system provides additional security, such as tracking, the EMR and what changes have been made to retrieve medical records. In addition, privacy audits are conducted on a weekly basis.

The use of EMR in Fort Smith taking place this week. There will be no impact on the delivery of health services in this period.

Currently Yellowknife Primary Care Center and framework Lake Community Health Clinic and Medical Clinic Hay River with DME.
