Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP is a behavioral change technology by a wide range of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, doctors, hypnotherapists and General Counsel used. This psychological method was invented and introduced to the public in the 1970s and remains a popular tool to initiate positive change in people. The evidence is not as extensive as claims, so it's a bit more, instead of a single application on the personal concern of the approach.
Five facts about Neuro-Linguistic Programming
The use of guided imagery specific language structures are interwoven known in the so-called NLP. For years, credit to the value of this practice were many, many, including improved memory and concentration, weight loss, lie detection easier, [1] and the reduction of anxiety. Few studies could support these claims. This does not mean that NLP is not effective, but simply that this tool may simply be a complementary approach, the results can be seen in a certain type of person. Here are some of the claims that were made in the context of NLP:
No.1 weight loss
Psychological behavior modification programs can be useful to reduce food intake and exercise greater coherence. This has led many experts to believe that the Neuro-Linguistic Programming NLP can also be an effective method for weight loss. One study examined the effects of weight loss with NLP or a cooking class. The people in the PNL group lost more weight at first, but the dropout rate is higher than the cooking class. [2] there was no evidence of a difference in weight maintenance two or three years after two approaches show. Therefore, evidence of loss of NLP and weight is not conclusive.
Learn No.2
The practice of NLP can be helpful in improving self-esteem in children with dyslexia can have a positive impact on their learning. [3] These results are mainly due to the fact that NLP has helped a feeling of deep relaxation and lower levels of anxiety among the participants. Researchers agree that more discussion is necessary, especially for people with ADD / ADHD.
Fear No.3
A study of a claustrophobic person MRI showed that NLP is an effective tool for reducing anxiety. [4] In fact, so effective that they contributed to the need for anesthesia was it. Other studies have shown that NLP can reduce anxiety scores. [5] The combination of relaxation and guided imagery may be the biggest contributor to feelings of decreased anxiety in most people. Stress in general, but not investigated in the NLP.
No.4 Depression
There is some evidence that NLP can be useful to support a healthy environment in general tool. [6] This evidence is limited, and does not mean that NLP has a direct positive effect on lifting depression. As well consists of a plurality of factors specific to the patient personnel approaches to treatment of multiple symptoms and specifically tailored to the individual.
No. 5 Habits
NLP has one of the most sought after methods to solve bad habits and replace them remained wanted by positive measures. Despite anecdotal evidence that there is very little research in the scientific literature. NLP is no risk of side effects, it can be used as a tool that can be used in your arsenal in the fight against bad habits like fast food range or be seen to delay the exercise.
One last thought
The practice of NLP has no significant side effects and can be used as an experimental approach that can complement conventional psychotherapy. Eat well, exercise and plenty of sunshine are also useful to maintain a healthy state of mind. Everyone is in their heads is different, no single approach can be adapted to each person. That is, it is important to use these techniques, along with that of a trusted doctor or therapist presented method.
